Posting Your Syllabus in Brightspace
Every Brightspace course has a dedicated Syllabus page in the Content tool. It’s an ideal place to put a brief description of your course and attach your syllabus. The Center for Academic Innovation Brightspace Guide has a section which goes over how to post your syllabus in detail.
Updating An Existing Syllabus
Already have a syllabus and/or don’t want to use the USM syllabus template? No problem! It’s easier than ever to update your syllabus with the most recent information. Instead of including the all the latestest policy and services information in you syllabus, which requires you to check and update every semester, just copy and paste the Institutional Policies & Services section below at the end of your syllabus. The paragraph below contains a link to the new Student Services and Policies Hub webpage which contains all of the information required to be included in all USM course syllabi. Be sure to delete any old resource information. This will vastly reduce the number of pages in your syllabus while still providing the most up to date information to students.
How to add the Institutional Policies & Services information to your exsisting syllabus:
- Delete all of the old institutional policy information from your syllabus.
- Highlight and copy (Ctrl+C for Windows, Command+C for macOS) the Institutional Policies & Services section below.
- Paste (Ctrl+V for Windows, Command+V for macOS) it into your course syllabus.
