Send a welcome message
A welcome message is a great way to engage your students from the start. You can send a welcome message directly from Brightspace using an announcement.You may also want to include a video. Click here to see what to include and what to leave out (PDF). You can insert a welcome video using Video Note when creating an announcement. Note: Your announcement will not send an email to students if your course is not active when it is posted.
Ensure your students are clear on course expectations and procedures from the start
It is extremely common for instructors to receive and influx of emails with student questions that are answered in the syllabus. Check out this example scavenger hunt activity (Google Doc) that helps ensure students have thoroughly reviewed the syllabus.
